All of our teachers are fully qualified professionals and, in addition to being highly accomplished, they are also energetic caring and positive people. It is the objective of all teachers in the school to offer innovative and creative teaching without discrimination or favouritism.

Karen Hackett

Karen began her involvement in theatre at a very young age and has since been immersed in the field of acting, teaching, directing and producing shows in Dublin, Laois and Cork. Karen was awarded a scholarship to study musical theatre at Laine Theatre Arts London and has an honours diploma from the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (L.A.M.D.A).

As a performer, Karen has played many roles in professional theatre such as Maria in “Westside Story”, Dorothy in “The Wizard of Oz”, Serena Katz in “Fame - The Musical”, Laurey in “Oklahoma”, Antonia in “Man of la Mancha”, Nancy in “Oliver”, Zelda in the Irish premiere of “Singing in the Rain” and Susan in the national tour of “Full Monty - The Musical”. Karen also played Mandy in “Eclipsed”, Belle in “Beauty and the Beast”, Gobnait in “The Sunbeam Girls” and Goretti in “The Good Sisters”. Karen performed with Andrea Bocelli on The Late Late show and also with Josh Groban in his “Awake” tour.

Karen played the role of Anna in Fair city and recently performed on Eurosong 2011 with the song Falling. As a director Karen has produced many shows from “Magic of the Musicals” to “Grease”, “Honk”, “Seussical”, “Annie”, “Sound of Music”, “Oliver” and many more. Karen also runs speech and communication modules for various secondary schools. Karen is very passionate about the Arts and is keen to pass on her expertise and love of theatre to all her students. Karen founded Curtain Call Stage School in 2008 and it has gone from strength to strength. Karen believes that with enough enthusiasm and commitment children can take their training from Curtain Call and go on to achieve success at all levels.

Lea Carroll

Lea started dancing at the age of 3, training in all styles. When she was 20, she was awarded a Full Scholarship to Bird College in London, where she studied professional musical theatre for 3 years. Since graduating, Lea has worked as a Dancer and Choreographer all over Ireland. She has performed with June Rodgers for the past 6 years in her Christmas show and has had the privilege of choreographing it for the last 2 years.

She also worked for 3 years as Dance captain on board the Oscar Wilde for Irish Ferries. TV credits include; Penny Dreadful season 2 and 3, Vikings, Republic of Telly, Holby City, Christmas with Daniel O Donnell, and The Man who invented Christmas. 

As a choreographer, Lea has worked with numerous Musical societies and Theatre Schools throughout Ireland. Shows include Chicago, All Shook Up, Ragtime, Me and my girl, The Addams Family, Jesus Christ Superstar and 9 to 5. Lea has also been nominated for a national AIMS “Best Choreography" award three times, in 2015, 2017 and 2019 for her work on Clara MS productions of Evita, Cats and Chicago.

Lea loves teaching! She has been with Curtain Call for the past 2 years. She loves working with all of the children, and can’t wait to see them all again for the new year.
